“Spill kit included” is too vague for a purchase order. A useful specification names each component, its dimensions or type, its quantity and the container in which it will be supplied. The required items depend on the liquid, task and site’s trained response procedure.
Absorbent items
Pads can cover accessible surfaces and collect compatible liquid. Socks can be placed to help limit spreading where the site procedure permits. Pillows provide a different shape for collection in selected locations. Ask for sizes and counts, because two kits with similar labels can have very different mixtures of components.
Protective and disposal items
Goggles, gloves, protective clothing and disposal bags may be included, but inclusion does not mean the PPE is suitable for every substance. Check glove and clothing selection against the liquid’s SDS and the site’s hazard assessment. Ask how used absorbents and contaminated PPE should be segregated and disposed of under your workplace procedure.
Instructions and replenishment
An instruction sheet is useful when it matches the supplied kit and your site procedure. Store the kit where staff can identify it, inspect the seals and replace missing items after use. Keep a version-controlled contents list with the responsible team so a later refill does not silently change the configuration.
When requesting a Kalhar Enterprise quotation, ask for the precise packing list for the chosen oil, universal, chemical or acid kit. For chemical or acid releases, provide the substance and concentration before the supplier confirms suitability.
